Discipleship / Media Minister

I grew up in and around northwest Oklahoma where I made a shallow profession of salvation at the age of 10 at a youth camp. However, the pastor of the church who sponsored the camp, shortly thereafter, told me to get out and never come back and I didn’t. Eventually, I grew to develop a dislike for those who called themselves Christians. Upon graduation from High School in 1965, I attended the Southwestern Oklahoma State University where I graduated with a BS degree in Mathematics and in Physics in 1968. It was during that time that I met and married my wonderful and beautiful wife, Marcella. I began my professional career in Tulsa, Oklahoma, only to be forced to enlist in the US Air Force, in December of 1968. After basic training and while waiting to attend Officer Training, I was given the opportunity to transfer and work for NORAD within the Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado Springs. It was while stationed in Colorado Springs, that Marcella and I came to know and understand what salvation truly was and we both accepted the Lord as our Savior. We were immediately baptized and joined the Prairie Road Baptist Church which later became known as the Colorado Springs Baptist Tabernacle. In 1971, I surrendered to the full-time ministry and along with Marcella started the American Heritage Christian Schools within our own local church. Since then, the Lord has provided me with the exciting ministry of establishing new churches, starting Christian Schools, and pastoring existing churches (all with financial and/or spiritual difficulty and then eventually turning them over to other pastors). Marcella and I both received our Masters and our PhD’s from the Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport, LA.

We have been happily married for over 40 years and have 4 grown children who have blessed us with 6 wonderful grandchildren. Under the Lord’s direction we came to Amarillo in 2002 and immediately joined Arden Road Baptist Church. I then became actively involved in its Bible Institute and served as one of its Deacons.

In 2006, I accepted the position as Discipleship / Media Pastor and was immediately given the tremendous opportunity to lead a group of talented and godly men in order to establish a Media ministry within our church that involves both live broadcasting of our services across the internet as well as bringing new and exciting computer technology to our church. I have also been blessed with the opportunity to establish and lead an exciting discipleship and addictions program that ministers to the whole family, called Reformers Unanimous, a chapter under the fastest growing addictions program in the world known as Reformers Unanimous International. Since its establishment, we have seen the Lord bless the program with 18 godly leaders and workers, regular attendance of over 60 every Friday night, and the salvation decisions of individuals as they yield their lives to the Lord.

I look forward to being able to continue to work for the Lord under the leadership of our godly pastor, Dale Bigham.
