John and Misty Vaught
Northwest Baptist Church
Pastor John Vaught, his wife, Misty, and their children Nyah, Naison and Nolan moved to the Scottsdale area in August of 2013 to follow the call of God and start NorthWay Baptist Church.
Pastor Vaught was struck by the lack of churches of any kind when traveling through Scottsdale in November of 2011. Both he and his wife were overwhelmed by the tremendous need of this city and over the next few months sought the Lord about starting a church in Scottsdale.
In January of 2012, God confirmed in their hearts the call to go to this great city and start a New Testament Baptist church. Pastor Vaught and his family are excited about what God has already done and what He will continue to do through NorthWay Baptist Church in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Alfred and Shirley King
New Testament Baptist Church
Alfred King was saved in 1998 at the age of 15 because of the Deaf Ministry of New Testament Baptist Church. He was baptized here the same year and was called to preach in 1999. Alfred’s wife Shirley (formerly Shirley Schones) was saved at the age of 4 and later baptized in New Testament in 1990. They were married in June 2004 and Shirley graduated with a BA in Elementary Education in 2005.
Alfred graduated from Heartland Baptist Bible College in May of 2006, with a BA in Pastoral Studies and served as a Missions Intern at Fellowship Baptist Church of Liberal, Kansas under Pastor Bill Prater where he finished the program in April 2009. He returned to Arizona with his wife Shirley and three children (they now have five children) and began working on starting a church in Oro Valley. In April 2010, North Valley Baptist Church was founded and has flourished under Alfred’s pastoral ministry.
Brother King is also serving as secretary of the Arizona Independent Baptist Fellowship since 2014. He is currently an officer on the Board of Directors at Heartland Baptist Bible College as well.
