Micah

What a privilege it was to be born into a pastor’s home! My parents, Todd and Terri Lasseter, were so faithful throughout my entire childhood to teach me the Scripture and to model the beliefs they taught. Besides having wonderful, godly parents, I had the benefit of growing up at Trinity Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Bob W. Smith. Although I was exposed to the Gospel hundreds of times throughout my early childhood, it wasn’t until I was 14 years old that I finally called out to God for salvation. Jesus Christ changed my life!

Shortly after my salvation, God began to work on my heart about serving him through full-time ministry. With a desire to follow God’s call and gain excellent training, I attended Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, OK. I had the incredible opportunity to serve in a variety of ways at the College as well as at Southwest Baptist Church. It was also during my time at HBBC that God began to burden my heart for launching healthy baptist churches.

After graduation from HBBC, my family and I moved to Amarillo, TX to join the Arden Road Baptist Church staff to prepare for the mission that God had called us to. At the time, we were preparing to serve the Lord in the country of Tasmania. But due to the intense visa restrictions that Australia has currently put into place, our family could not successfully apply for a visa. It was during this transitional time that God began to reveal to me areas right here in our own backyard with little Gospel presence. After personally seeing and experiencing the need for churches in the border-land region of El Paso, Texas, my family and I have answered the call to launch a healthy Independent Baptist Church in this very needy area of Texas. We are honored that we get the awesome privilege of “Sharing Christ in Sun City.”

What a joy to be able to say that I was raised in a Christian home where I was taught the Scripture and church was a priority. During my early childhood, we lived in Manhattan, Kansas where we attended Faith Baptist Church under the leadership of David Byford. It was at age of five that I completely understood the Gospel message and called upon Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior.     Shortly after our time in Kansas, God moved our family to the country town of Fritch, Texas where I was privileged to serve at Faith Baptist Church under Pastor Don Rice. Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to serve the Lord with my life, but I didn’t know exactly what that would look like for me.

In 2011, I moved from Fritch to Oklahoma City and enrolled at Heartland Baptist Bible College. I strove to serve Him whole-heartedly in various ministries throughout my entire time at Bible College until I knew exactly what God wanted me to do.

Shortly after God allowed Micah and I to get married, He began to work on both of our hearts concerning the area of Church planting. Even though that passion didn’t take on the international facet we thought it would, I’m excited to see exactly what God will do in El Paso. There’s no doubt I have a wild mission field of  boys already living inside my own home, but I’m thrilled and honored to expand that mission field as our family sets out to share Christ in Sun City.
